Alessandro Fiorentino is an Italian architect, designer and master of contemporary wood marquetry, recognised as one of the leading figures in the revival of the historic Sorrento marquetry tradition. After an international architectural career, in the 1980s he devoted himself to rediscovering and renewing the ancient inlay techniques of Sorrento, combining research, design and craftsmanship. In 1993 he founded the MUTA – Sorrento Wood Inlay Museum-Workshop, located in the historic Palazzo Pomarici Santomasi, with the mission of preserving and transmitting this unique Italian craft heritage. His work merges architectural design and artisanal mastery, creating furniture and objects in which marquetry becomes an integral structural element rather than mere surface decoration.
